Knowing the size of your spa is important. So if you are not sure how many gallons of water are in your spa, call the spa manufacturer or simply google the spa model and find in on the internet.
Step 1. An Introduction
To insure a clean spa with beautiful clear water, there are three basic areas of maintenance you should be familiar with. Those are covered in Steps 2, 3, and 4 listed below. Steps 4, 5, and 6 put the previous steps together in an easy to use “program” resulting in clean good looking water with minimum effort.
Step 2. Shock & Sanitize
There are two types of water care products which always need to be added to maintain healthy and great looking water. Those two products types are sanitizers and oxidizers. Oxidizers are often referred to as Shock.
Sanitizers, which need to be added consistently, control and destroy germs and other unwanted bacteria from the water. Oxidizers, added at least weekly, remove the buildup of materials we introduce to the water, like personal care products and sweat. Additionally, oxidizers revitalize sanitizers in water and prevent water from emitting an unpleasant odor.
SpaPure Bromine Tabs The easiest way to introduce sanitizer to spa water.
SpaPure Oxidizing Shock Fast dissolving and odor free shock that does not use chlorine or bromine.
Step 3. Water Balance
Maintaining proper water balance will ensure maximum results from your sanitizer and comfortable water. If you are filling your spa for the first time you should have your water tested by your authorized SpaPure dealer.
You dealer will analyze Total Alkalinity, pH, Calcium Hardness and a few other parameters important to short and long term spa care. As the spa is being used during the year, the water should be tested at least a couple of times weekly, to ensure that these factors are within their appropriate ranges. If any of these balance factors are off:
Use SpaPure Alkalinity Increaser to elevate alkalinity into the range of 100-120 ppm.
Adjust pH to 7.2-7.6 by using SpaPure pH Up or SpaPure pH Down.
SpaPure Hardness Increaser will raise water hardness to the desired range of 150-250 ppm.
Step 4. Cleaning
A spa filter works hard to remove material from your water, most of which is too small to see with the naked eye. Since the filter is constantly collecting material, light to moderately used spas should have their filters cleaned and degreased monthly with SpaPure Filter Cleaner . Looking to avoid cleaning the filter? Regular additions of SpaPure Natural Clear will effectively extend the time between cleanings!
The natural breakdown of cleaning products and the build-up of oils from your own skin will eventually make the spa water less pleasant than the day it was first filled. For the ultimate spa experience, your home spa should be drained and refilled every three months. Between refills, clean the spa surface with SpaPure Spa Cleaner . This cleaner, safe for all surfaces, will help keep your spa looking and feeling its best for years
Step 5. Ideal Ranges for Residential Spas
pH
7.2 - 7.6
Total Alkalinity
100-120 ppm
Calcium Hardness
150-250 ppm
Bromine
3.0-5.0 ppm
Free Chlorine
1.0-3.0 ppm
Metals
0 ppm
Step 6. Fire It UP
These steps are for those freshly filling a new or an existing spa.
1) As the spa is filling add SpaPure Simply Soft to the spa. This will make water care a breeze and keep water looking spectacular.
2) Shortly afterwards, add SpaPure Stain & Scale Preventer to the spa. This will prevent water issues such as scaling and staining.
3) Once the spa is filled and well circulated, balance the spa water.
4) Add a sanitizer to the spa. When using bromine, start by adding SpaPure Brom Bank to the spa. Shortly afterwards, add SpaPure Bromine Tabs to the spa in an appropriate tablet dispenser. When using chlorine add SpaPure Granular Chlorine directly to the spa to achieve appropriate sanitizer levels.
5) Shock the spa.
Step 7. Occasional Spa Care
Check your spa periodically to insure that the spa is circulating at least four hours a day. Without circulation, no matter how many water care products you add to the spa, the water will turn cloudy, smelly, or worse.
Weekly care should include three steps:
Apply SpaPure Clarifier to maintain water clarity
Apply SpaPure Stain & Scale Preventer to prevent scale buildup on surfaces and equipment
Shock the spa using SpaPure Oxidizing Shock or SpaPure Multi Shock
Spa Frog @Ease Smart Chlor System
The greatest challenge in owning a hot tub is keeping your water crystal clear...not anymore! One of the 4 major brands that Oceanside Hot Tub carries is Artesian Spas. They are world class in the industry for reliability and innovation. We are proud to announce that Artesian Spas is now using the SpaFrog @Ease spa care system that requires no guess work when treating the water in your hot tub. Give Oceanside Hot Tub a call and we will educate you on how this system is the best in the Hot Tub industry.
Introducing a breakthrough in sanitizing that comes ready to use on select hot tub brands. @ease with the innovative SmartChlor® Technology and Fresh Mineral Water® benefits offers a complete sanitizing system that’s time released to meet the demands of any hot tub up to 600 gallons. The result is crystal clear water for weeks at a time using up to 75% less chlorine*! So your hot tub is always ready to use.
Benefits:
Kills bacteria with up to 75% less chlorine* than ordinary systems.
It’s so easy you only shock the hot tub once a month.
SmartChlor cartridge lasts up to 4 weeks depending on hot tub usage. Recyclable when empty.
The Mineral Cartridge lasts 4 months or whenever you drain your hot tub.
No faded swimwear. No chlorine smell.
No Mess No Guess. No Stress. No daily or weekly maintenance.
How It Works:
The @ease System combines the proven FROG mineral formula for killing bacteria with SmartChlor Technology that maintains a consistently low chlorine level for weeks. Unlike normal chlorine that is used up when you get in, SmartChlor continues to maintain the same level which is up to 75% less than hot tubs using Dichlor (standard hot tub chlorine). That’s why we call it self-regulating.
It goes to work when the hot tub needs sanitizing so there is no frustrating yo-yo chlorine levels. This time-released method is also why less shock is needed to maintain the hot tub.
When the SmartChlor Cartridge is depleted, the SmartChlor Out Indicator on the @ease Test Strip will be a light green. Simply replace the empty cartridge with a new one.
So you save time and the cost of shock treatments. And because @ease uses 75% less chlorine, it helps prevent faded suits and avoids the effects chlorine has on equipment and surfaces.
